Joyful Moments: December

It seems like only yesterday I was sitting down to type out my first post in this series, so having come round full circle feels both strange and like an accomplishment to me. I’m glad I’ve been able to stick to this monthly round up of happy things each month on the blog, and I’m hoping I can carry it over into 2018 as well. I am also planning on taking part in Project 365 again next year, so we shall see how things pan out. I’m also hoping to blog more often and be more engaged than I have been within the blogging community this year, so with that in mind I wanted to end this year with a nice, uplifting post, and thank you all for your continued support, kindness and love that you’ve shown me this year and I will be back on the 1st of January with a brand new post!

Until then, here is what made me smile throughout December.

1. Christmas

It’s my favourite time of the year, and the feeling that is often in the air around this time of the year just makes everything feel magical. I’m hoping I can take some of this feeling and anticipation into the New Year, and I hope you all carry that magic with you too.

2. December Skies

Blue skies, crisp wintry chilly air and fluffy white clouds = Happy Tasha.

3. Snowflakes Shadows

DSCN5909

Each year I go on and on about how much I love the shadows that come through onto my wall after I put my snowflakes up, and this year is no different! No regrets. I love Christmas, so the smallest things like this just make me smile, and it’s so nice to wake up to these happy snowflake silhouettes on my wall and curtains.

4. Christmas Lights

One of my favourite things about the festive season is Christmas lights. Warm, sparkingling and glowing dimly in the evening while everyone is curled up warm indoors – it’s just so comforting, and uplifting and I’m always a little sad to see the lights come down as we head into the New Year, but then it wouldn’t as magical if the lights remained up all year, so I just hold onto the anticipation of getting them out again the following December!

5. Winter Sun

Nothing nicer than some winter sunshine that comes shining into my bedroom on a cold afternoon. Even better when it lands on my snowman paper chain!

A Few Other Things I’ve Been Loving:

  • 7 For 7 by GOT7: I got this album for Christmas and it is just gorgeous. There’s not a single song on here that I don’t like, and the photobook it comes with is stunning. As someone who enjoys photography, I really love the fact that so many albums from Korean artists and groups come with these beautiful photobooks as it just adds something to the album, and this one is stunning. If you’re into k-pop then this is one album I highly recommend for the year ahead. It reminds me of hazy summer evenings.
  • Doctor Who: Waving goodbye to the Doctor is always hard but this Christmas episode was fantastic. David Bradley was brilliant and I am going to miss Peter Capaldi so much, but it was a great way to send his character off, so well done BBC. I won’t give away any spoilers, but if you’re a fan of the series and you haven’t seen the Christmas episode yet, I highly recommend it, it’s very heartwarming and I can’t wait to see where they take the new series now.
  • @niahmia_art: This is my newest favourite instagram account to follow. If you’re into k-pop and cute art, you’ll love this. Mia’s artwork is gorgeous and never fails to put a smile on my face. My most recent favourite is this adorable Christmas Minhyuk piece – so cute!
  • All of you: I wanted to reserve a spot on this list for all of you as my final favourite thing for 2018. This year has been tough, but I am feeling and doing a lot better now, and part of that has been thanks to the lovely, uplifting and supportive comments that I always receive on here. It’s easy to say, but they really do lift me up and make me smile, so thank you so much for all of the support this year, it has really made all the difference and I’m hoping I can return the favour to all of you throughout the year ahead as well.

I also wanted to say I will be catching up with blog comments and having a proper read of all of your posts in the New Year, so please just bear with me – I haven’t forgotten! I also apologise for having been a little MIA on here recently. I’d had a few more posts planned, as I know I missed a Photo Friday post about a fortnight ago, but I wanted to take a break over Christmas and start afresh in 2018, so apologies for that, and thank you all for being patient.

^_^

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and have a wonderful start to the New Year!

Sending you lots of love and good wishes for 2018.

This is such a great idea! I’m new to your blog but I already know that I’m going to love every post, especially when they’re this uplifting! The crisp, wintry skies are some of the best things about these cold months, and I love going out in them when I’m wrapped up really warm, breathing in the cool air. It’s so refreshing!
Yes yes yes to the Christmas lights! I love fairy lights all year round, but at Christmas they feel extra festive and can really make a room more cosy and Christmassy.
Happy belated Christmas and Nee Year, I hope to read your blog on the regular in 2018 🙂
